It can be hard to let a beloved garden go when it becomes too much work
Today ’s photo come from Tess H.
I am a Southerner transplanted to the Midwest . I have belike an Akko totality in mixed shrubs and perennials . I just separate my husband I was going to start transition out of perennial and only have shrub gardens . I have a few areas already dedicate to differentpanicle hydrangeas(Hydrangea paniculata , Zones 3–8 ) that are adorable , but it is a grown step to break away from my high - maintenance garden . I ’m in my later sixty , desire to travel , and ca n’t keep up . In the fall , when I ’m spending about 80 hours cleaning up the gardens , I want to be done with it all . I have a particularly wonderful area dedicated to sedums surrounded by genus Alyssum immingle withphloxand fairy roses . Another area is intemperately engraft with another eccentric ofsedumbackdropped by barberry , spirea , lilies , anddaylilies . I designed a lot of my garden to be hear from the upstair windowpane , so it ’s pretty unique that way .
It is so backbreaking to admit you ca n’t keep up a garden . Getting disembarrass of the plants is heartbreaking , but I ’m hoping to give a call to my local garden gild to regain a new base for the plants , so that should help subside the setback .

High alimony but very beautiful , these pink lily ( Lilium , Asian group , Zones 4–9 ) make quite a video display .
muckle of pinkrosesecho the color of the lily .
This garden is plan to be beautiful from the ground and , as seen here , from an upstair window . We all spend a lot of clock time looking at our garden from indoors , so it is well worth regard the view from your windows when designing your garden .

The same bed as seen from ground level .
pinkish garden phlox ( Phloxpaniculata , Zones 4–8 )
vast masses ofSedumbacked by day lily ( Hemerocallis ) make for a dewy-eyed yet dramatic entrance .

Panicle hydrangeasin bloom . It can be grueling to admit that it is time to simplify a garden , but choosing shrubs over perennials is a swell fashion to keep a beautiful distance while making it less of a burden to maintain .
