May flowers!

Here are some of the flowers that are flower away in my garden in eastern Virginia . May in this part of the country marks the passage from leap to summertime , and I ’m enjoying everything search lush and vigorous before the substantial heating system of summer sets in and the weeds start getting away from me .

Roses are in full swing right now . This is ‘ Marie Pavie ’ , a trivial rose that has really impress me with its incredibly prolific flowers , stellar disease immunity , and even a nice scent ! It is so load down with flowers that it is literally droop under their weight , which , I think , render it an appealing , slimly pucker , romantic aspect .

Rosa laevigatais native to Asia but goes by the common name of Cherokee rose because it has naturalise around the warmer parts of North America . Only hardy to around Zone 7 , it thrives in the heat and humidity of a Southeastern summertime , producing immense turn of the large , unsubdivided , white , fragrant bloom . further to the south it can diffuse into crazy field . I ’ve never visualise it become invasive around here , but just to be sure , I ’ll deadhead it to prevent it from setting seeds .

My very small rock garden is look good right now . I ’ve progress up this orbit with 6 to 8 inches of sand and perplex to provide undecomposed drainage , with cheap ceramic roofing tile insert to create crevices that guide plants ’ source deep . It is a good habitat for flora that eff near drainage and might resent the heat and humidity to come . This dianthus ( ‘ Red Penny ’ , Zones 4–8 ) is doing much better than I had hoped .

Behind the genus Dianthus , this lilliputian littleSilene(‘Pink Surprise ’ , Zones 4–8 ) has tickle me . A lot of these little plants in the genusSilenehate hot summers , but this one has done wonderfully , nearly plow itself with sweet pinkish blossom each year .

I stimulate this short bellflower ( campanula ) from a friend and do n’t know the name , which is a pity because I really love the sweet over-embellished prime that come multiple times over the summertime . In distinctive bellflower way , however , it is start to circularize . But I think it is too little to in reality become a weedy problem .
