Gardens are like lifespan . Change is the one constant quantity , and the fugacious nature of the beaut of living things is always a challenge to those who would charm for all meter the beauty of a specific Clarence Day or present moment . We are fortunate if we are able to get those bit in our life . With the loath acquiescence of my self - efface gardener wife , I offer some photographs of the most wonderful garden that she created in the East Hampton , New York , crossroads of Amagansett . The product of 26 years of effort — aptly assisted by Ben Soledad , our nurseryman — this piece of ground was attended to lavishly by a person who instruct herself the Latin name of every flower she placed . Her love life for it was evident to every person fortunate to plunge themselves in the beauty of this particular property . The vagaries of life , and COVID-19 , led late last year to the sale of this place that meant so much to us , but specially to her , as the excited attachment to her creation was profound .
I share these pictures with you to honor her try and allow others to see just what a beautiful piazza it is .
