SixOnSaturday

It has been cold and mucky , both the conditions and frankly my respiratory system too . I am now feel better , and yesterday at least it was a beautiful sunny mean solar day . meter for Six on Saturday – Six matter , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything – a flower , seedlings , a completed task , a architectural plan , a tool or equipment , come forth growth – anything at all . fall in in !

Here are my Six for this workweek .

1 . Automatic vent-hole openers – after almost a year of procrastinating I in the end got around to fitting this , one of two I need to do , last weekend . I ’m pleased to say that the vent had opened up as expect on what was a gay good afternoon here yesterday . The 2nd one remains a job to do , the original manual opener are rusted in place , I postulate to drill out the screws .

2 . rising allium . I do n’t recall which of the five form I institute in this border . I take over it ’s an genus Allium rather than a stray tulip . clock time will tell .

3 . Mint . The new growth is coming through , I need to write out back the old . This heap works was a raffle loot , if I recall right , it be in a pot on the patio .

4 . Oriental poppy . set about to perk up after a quiet winter , this and several like it were grown from semen last twelvemonth . No flowers yet , I am hopeful for this class .

5 . Aster ‘ Little carlow ’ . Emerging new ontogeny , looking a small nibbled . I ’ll cut back the quondam stems in full in a month or so .

6 . Nerine bulb . Kindly send to me a week or two back by Jim , of this parish . I must plant them out . I intended to do just that last workweek but I understand they need mass of grit for drainage – I need to get some . I also have to puzzle out the trouble of where to plant them . They may sulk , disliking being moved and manure about with , so may not flower this year . I go for they get over themselves , I ’m keen to have more fall colour in the garden .
