SixOnSaturday

You ’ll be relieve to hear I live on my trip to the Brecon Beacons . Seven rather moist minute were spent in the hills , go up and down Pen Y Fan several times via unlike route . With another three minute in local hills on Sunday , I was effective for nothing by Sunday afternoon , spending the rest of the day drowse on the sofa . This weekend is light in comparison training - judicious so I look to have some time in the garden . There is much to do – deadheading , bindweed patrol , planting , irrigation to coiffe up , mowing and edging , and on and on . I ’ll get some of it done . In theory …

prison term for Six on Saturday . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything , you decide !

Here are my Six for this calendar week .

1 – Geranium ‘ Wargrave Pink ’ . A rather touchy prime , smaller than Rosanne , say . This flora is one several dissimilar geranium that I ’ve sum the last dyad of years . Allegedly it is a broadcaster and a sprawler , so we ’ll see how it goes . There are worse things to have too much of .

2 – Teasel . I grew these from seed a couple of years ago , dreaming of becoming a haven for goldfinches . Never saw a undivided one , the ejaculate mostly end up on my lawn , I ’m still digging them up / mop them down now . This flower is on a couplet of plants which have sprung up at the entrance to the side alley . A prickly salutation for the unwary .

3 . Poppy ‘ Lauren ’s Grape ’ . All workweek I ’ve been thinking I must include this for SoS this workweek . Unfortunately all the opened flush , a adorable purple , were blast by the wind and rain we had here overnight , so no flowers to show . Still , the seed heads are oculus - bewitch .

4 – Rose ‘ William Lobb ’ . A gently out of focal point shot , but you get the musical theme . Planted a year or two ago at the base of a trellis , it has topped out the trellis at 6′ and has been flowering away for several workweek . I think it goes well with its trellis - mate , clematis ‘ Polish Spirit ’ .

5 – Dianthus deltoides ‘ Brilliancy ’ . The last continue clump of several I used to have , made up of about 80 plants I mature from seed years ago . For some ground his one is still going potent .

6 – rose , to do . Some month back I bought three bareroot roses with the intention of planting them in the patio planters . They are shrub roses , but the idea is I ’ll train them like a miniskirt - mounter against the roughly 3′ of treillage they ’ll have ( the blow of the same trellis William Lobb is grow up ) . Each is fragrant , so should add a fancy niff to the patio proceedings . I have n’t plant them yet because , well , laziness , but also because the electric light foliage in tell plantation owner has only lately died down . They are all farm nicely together in this tub where I flump them as they came , directly out of the David Austin promotion . It ’ll be a bit of a job to untangle them , but hopefully I can do that without peril them or myself . A caper for this weekend . While I ’m at it I ’ll remind myself what they are . I ’m pretty sure there ’s a Dame Judy Dench in there , no clue what the other two are .

Happy gardening !

I ’ll be back next weekend with another # SixOnSaturday .
