Gardening in the land of the midnight sun
My name is Fran , and I live in Massachusetts . I have take my home garden before , but today I ’m sharing photos for GPOD on the Road . My husband and I were very fortunate to move around this past summer andvisit at least seven different garden . We traveled to Florida , Alaska , and Vancouver , and place in between . Butchart Gardens , Longwood Gardens , and others in New York City and Florida were beautiful , elaborate , and inspiring , but the garden that verbalise to us was theBotanical Garden at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks . The garden ’s commission is to develop and to search and develop flower , shrubs , grains , fruit , and veg that are adapted to the unique clime of the Land of the Midnight Sun . Here are photos of the garden ’s beautiful plantings .
Fairbanks sit at the edge of Zones 1 and 2 . That is COLD , but these beautiful flowers are proof that you may have an unbelievable garden anywhere ; it is just a topic of choosing the right plants for your space . These delphinium ( Delphiniumelatum ) thrive in Alaska ’s tenacious , cool summer Day to make an over - the - top flower showing .
Delphiniums detest hot summer weather and are a perfect choice for northern gardens .

choke by the uncouth names of Maltese cross or ruby-red lychnis , thisSilenechalcedonicagives a brilliant display of blooms in summer . Most address list it as audacious in Zones 3–9 , but clearly it is prosper here in Fairbanks .
