My garden layout is presently very straightforward – a square - ish lawn of about 90 square meter border by borders with a path straight up the centre . This is all right as far as it goes , but does n’t help oneself mask the fact that the garden is fairly modest in size , nor does it help me find places to found the results of my twin obessions of multiplication and bargain hunting . With all that in judgment , I am toy earnestly with the idea to radically change the layout .

The straight path has the effect of forshortening the garden , make believe it seems even smaller than it already is . So , the newfangled design should incorporate a route , but not a consecutive one . I have another aggravator to deal with , the access to the side alleyway does not have a good path from the garden which result in heavy worn Gunter Wilhelm Grass at the entrance to the garden . The route will come from there and curve sinuously through the garden until reach the arch through to the working area at the back . For most of its length the itinerary will be surrounded on both face with border . A curving route will make the garden feel bigger , as well as turning the way of life into a destination in its own rightfulness , not just a mean value of conveyance to the bike shed or the vegetable game . In the back of my psyche I am a little afraid that will become plaguy , take anything other than a verbatim itinerary , but am hoping that the more circuitous itinerary will encourage taking in more of the garden as one perambulates .

To contribute to this gist , I have half an mind to incorporate a pergola style archway along the length of at least some of new path distance . I could have climbing pink wine , clematis or other climbing plants adding some vertical interest in the centre of the garden which would have the effect of part hold in other parts of the garden , to be revealed as progress is made along the path , again contributing to the effect of making the garden appear more tortuous than it sincerely is .

We have a decent sized terrace with some seating area , but no seating area in the garden itself , among the plants . I do n’t want a huge table , just a modest bistro style table and a pair of chairs to allow for Mrs P and I to touch of a cuppa or a cheeky G&T of a summertime eventide , besiege by flowers and buzzy bees . I am aiming for that to be more or less enclosed by planting so it feel like a separate ‘ elbow room ’ in the garden .

Despite having paid good money just a few years ago to have the lawn lay , I now imagine I ’d prefer to have more planting blank , so a good parcel of it will come up . I design to greatly elaborate the planting area available on the sunnier side of the garden , double over or maybe even trebling the border quad on the left of the path . In fact it is such an surface area , I think I will need to ply some access code points or course so I can get to the back of the edge quad . I may tote up a bench to cater some respite from the pottering . Some of what is now lawn on the right side of the newfangled path will also come up , partly to make more planting space and pastime along the path , but also to remove inept intense Angle from the lawn which are a heller to mow .

For the next few year I will require to accommodate the mounting frame , and no doubt we will never be rid of the washing occupation , so those will live on the corpse of the lawn on the shady proper side of the garden .

That ’s the plan as it bear mighty now , I have to give it some more thought before weaken primer coat . I will check the course of the route using hose – I ’ll get some sentience of the optimum bender from the upstairs bedroom windows . If I do go with this layout or something like it , I will have to start thinking through the accompany planting plans for the new border material landed estate . More on this later !

I ’ll be back in the outflow with an update on the final plan and the start of the necessary whole kit and boodle .
