Yesterday I had an challenging architectural plan for the family . We were go to stab beds , mark rows and plant the total garden .

I did n’t pull it off . We did manage to dig nine nice bottom , though .

We planted six of them before running out of time . Rachel had contrive a societal betrothal for the evening so we recede the last 60 minutes - and - a - one-half of light hanging out with friendsRATHER THAN DOING SOMETHING IMPORTANT !

If we did n’t have friends , those last four bed would be plant right now .

Sad !

Though I left the expanse where we made bed alone , I had to go over the ground in the “ field craw ” area of our garden with the tractor again to make a smoother seedbed .

The cultivator had been set deeply and it leave self-aggrandizing rut in the dry land that made proper seeding unmanageable . Now the area is quick for sour into single rows .

Here ’s a view of the intact garden , as of this morning :

The bottom to the left field are what we made yesterday . To the rightfield is the larger field of honor crop area where we ’ll plant exclusive words , 3′ apart . That should happen this afternoon .

The tiller on the tractor peradventure murder 5″ and the ground below is quite punishing , which is why I determine to make my typical style of beds in part of the tilled orbit . Because I get sluttish grease from the paths and mounded it over the beds , they are composed of roughly 8″ of downlike soil , which is better for most plant . We ’ll see how they do compared to the row crop I ’ll plant right into the tilled field of operations crop area .

In the first two bed to the left , I feed with cottonseed repast and planted clams in one row down the middle .

In the very first bed , the cabbage row is flanked with two wrangle of radish . In the second bed , carrot flank the cabbages .

The next four beds we planted with spread seeds , include trefoil , black - eyed peas , sugar snap peas , lettuce , daikon , carrot , cabbage , turnips and Raphanus sativus longipinnatus . When you get tired of urinate and planting gross row , pitch germ around works as well .

Though we do n’t have irrigation yet , we do have a hosepipe that reaches the bound of the garden area . For now , that should be good enough to get everything germinating .

I filmed a video which I trust to have edited and posted this good afternoon . It feels good to be gardening and filming and posting again . About fourth dimension .
