The pandemic has not just lead to an increasing requirement for unused efflorescence and houseplant , the requirement for preserved flower has been on the rise as well . “ As mass have been stuck at home , many have been prefer for long - lasting preserve flower , instead of go out weekly to buy fresh ones . Two years ago , the US was a very minuscule market place for us . Currently , it is our second biggest market , ” says Juan Diego Ucrós of RoseAmor . The Ecuadorean company is the biggest producer of keep rose wine in the world . “ It is still a very novel product , and there is much pass on to build up in the market of preserve heyday . ”Juan Diego Ucrós ( left ) at the RoseAmor stand at IFTF 2021A niche marketThe ship’s company start out 20 years ago . Originally , they entirely develop fresh flush , but , over the years , they have wholly switch to the luxurious and recess grocery store of preserved peak , as they saw an interesting electric potential . “ In the beginning , China and Europe were our bountiful client . Yet , since China has started its own preserved flower production , we can not vie with the local price for that market place . However , the more luxurious stigma over there are still using our roses , as they find that our quality is deserving it . ”New markets : US and Middle EastWhile Europe has remained a steady important market for the preserved flower producer , there are new chance that have only recently arisen . “ The US has become really important for us , but only since the start of the pandemic . They of a sudden go to buy more preserve flowers to an incredible extent . We think that this might have to do with people being stuck at home , and not being able to go out weekly to buy fresh flowers . When have our preserved flowers instead , they are done for a twelvemonth with just one leverage . ”There are still developments in other function of the world as well : “ latterly , we have been picture a plenty of interest from the Middle East , which is very exciting . We are aware that this is still a new product that is not yet mainstream . There is much left in the overall preserved flower marketplace to build up , but we are convinced that the growth will continue . The luxurious quality , long vase life , and minimum feat are major welfare for the end consumer . ”Ethanol , not methanolWhat is it that makes RoseAmor ’s heyday singular ? “ Whereas many producer of preserve blossom use methanol , we apply ethanol . This is more expensive , but it is a much cleaner and safer mathematical product . In add-on , most company rush the dry out mental process , whereas we take our time and let them dry for five sidereal day . When doing this mental process too quick , the flowers do n’t get the time to stabilize well enough . There are many such details that go into our production that leads to the high quality we have achieved . ”
Using more sea freightAs for many companies , one of RoseAmor ’s biggest challenge currently is transportation . “ It is of course an advantage that we are dealing with preserve efflorescence rather of perishable , so it is not as big of a problem when payload are delayed . Our shipments to Europe have been especially detain so much that some customers have had to wait for almost five hebdomad to get their order . Therefore , we have begin to lean more on sea freight rate . Whereas we used to use between one and two sea container per month , this has now grown to 5 - 6 . This does intend , however , that we have to plan ahead more than we are used to . We are used to take in regular hebdomadary flight to Europe , so order could be fill in later . Now , we can not count on that sure thing anymore and our order need to be in full complete . ”
