Monarchs, roses, and more
Today we ’re visiting with Peggy Sheets in Bay St. Louise , Mississippi . ( See this previous post from Peggy ):
We ’ve had adorable weather , though wry for us . give thanks goodness for plants in this strange world we ’re in these days .
Amaryllis ( Hippeastrumhybrid ) growing in the ground ! northerly gardener are used to grow these as houseplants , but there are a few change that are unfearing to Zone 7 , and many can be grown outside once you get to Zone 8 or 9 . They ’re always beautiful , however you develop them !

Hungrymonarch butterflycaterpillars making short employment of a milkweed plant .
liberal , fertile , monarch butterfly caterpillars rat for a good spot in what Peggy calls the “ Chrysalis Condo . ” The Caterpillar string up in this distinctive “ J ” shape for about 24 hours as they train their chrysalises .
After one to two weeks , the mature butterflies will emerge , and some will fly north to lay egg for the next generation of butterflies .

The caterpillar of a elephantine morning coat butterfly . The adultbutterfliesare incredibly beautiful , but at this stage , they ’re less attractive . In fact , they mimic the look of snort poop to invalidate being eaten .
Climbing rose‘Don Juan ’ . The rich red flowers are attractively complement by the red leaf of the new growth .
Louisiana iris‘Eclipse ’ ( Zones 5–9 ) . The Louisiana group of iris are hybrids of several metal money native to the southeastern United States . They gasconade beautiful flowers and thrive in live , humid weather .

Camelliajaponica‘Royal Velvet ’ ( zone 7–10 ) . It ’s easy to see where that name fare from !
Walking iris diaphragm ( Neomaricagracilis , Zones 9–11 ) fetch its name because after blooming , the flower stems bend over to the ground and form fresh plantlets at their crown , admit the industrial plant to “ walk ” through a landscape . If it is n’t fearless for you , this beautiful plant can also be grown as a houseplant .
